We Slept in the Woods… at a Marriott? Our Honest Postcard Cabins Review
By Casey & Jeremy | 222 Parkside
We've stayed at a lot of Marriotts over the years. Like, a LOT. We're Bonvoy members, we collect points, we've done the whole thing. But this one? This was something completely different.
We spent a night at Postcard Cabins by Marriott in Brown County, Indiana — and honestly, we didn't really know what to expect. Tiny cabin in the woods? With a Marriott logo on it? We had to see it for ourselves.

What Are Postcard Cabins?
Postcard Cabins is a Marriott brand that's been quietly popping up all over the United States. The concept is simple — small, well-equipped cabins tucked into wooded areas, designed for people who want to get outside without giving up a real bed and a hot shower.
It's camping, but make it cozy.
Where We Stayed
This particular location is technically closer to Columbus, Indiana than Brown County — about 20–30 minutes from downtown Nashville, IN. If you're planning a trip and want to be right in the heart of Brown County, just know you'll have a scenic country drive to get there (which honestly we loved).
It is truly in the middle of nowhere. No gas stations nearby. No restaurants down the road. Plan accordingly and bring your own food if you're staying for dinner.
Inside the Cabin
We stayed in a two-bed cabin — a queen on the main level and a loft bed up top with a gorgeous big window. The inside is more functional than you'd expect for the size.
Here's what's included:
- Queen bed + loft sleeping area
- Full bathroom with a real shower
- Mini kitchenette with a sink, mini fridge, pots and pans, kettle, and a little range
- Coffee cups, playing cards, a fan, and A/C
- WiFi (and a little box to hide your phone if you're trying to unplug — loved this detail)
- Table with seating + a camper-style bench
No television. That's intentional. And honestly? It was kind of refreshing.
The Fire Pit Setup
This was our favorite part. Each cabin has its own private fire pit area with really nice seating. When we arrived, there was a weatherproof box outside already stocked with three bundles of firewood and fire starter pads. The cabin also comes with a couple of those long-stem lighters — the kind that actually get down into the fire without burning your hand.
We had that fire going in minutes. The wood was dry, the starters were reliable, and sitting out there surrounded by trees in southern Indiana with nothing but the sound of the woods? Perfect.
The Honest Pros & Cons
What we loved:
- Real beds with great quality mattresses
- Hot shower — not an afterthought, actually nice
- Spacious outdoor area with privacy between cabins
- Fire pit setup is genuinely well thought out
- WiFi worked great
- Peaceful, quiet, and completely unplugged feeling
A few things to know:
- You need to bring ALL your own food — there's nothing nearby
- No TV (not a con for us, but worth knowing if you're bringing kids)
- It's not truly close to Brown County despite the name
- More of a "glamping" experience than a full outdoors adventure — there are no planned activities
Who Is This Perfect For?
Honestly, it reminded us of staying in a small RV or camper — without the commitment of renting one for a week. If you've ever thought about getting into RV life or camping but weren't sure you'd love it, this is the perfect low-stakes way to test the waters.
It's also just a really solid one-night reset. We didn't see many people, had the whole wooded area mostly to ourselves (even during spring break), and got home feeling genuinely refreshed.
Pack Like You're Going to a Cabin
If you're heading out on a trip like this, you're gonna want to be comfortable — around the fire, on the trail, during the drive. That's exactly the kind of life we design for at 222 Parkside.
Our Camp Sweatshirt is the one we reach for every single time we're heading outside. Soft, lived-in, built for exactly this kind of weekend.

Final Verdict
Would we go back? Yes. Would we recommend it? Absolutely — with the caveat that you go in knowing what it is. It's not a hotel. It's not hardcore camping. It's the sweet spot in between, and that sweet spot is really, really nice.
If you have suggestions for other spots we should check out around Indiana or beyond, drop them in the comments on the video. We're always looking for the next great escape.
