The November Campfire Night That Doesn't Need a Weekend Away

November has a way of making the weekends feel shorter. The sun disappears early, the holiday calendar starts filling up, and suddenly a whole camping trip sounds like more planning than relaxing.

But we still love the idea of spending a little time outside. You don't need to pack the car or book a cabin to get that feeling. A simple evening outdoors can be enough.

Make it a one-hour plan

Pick an evening when the weather cooperates. Invite a friend, bring the family, or keep it just for yourself. The goal isn't to host anything impressive. It's to enjoy the time you have.

  1. Ten minutes to get comfortable. Grab a chair, a blanket, a warm layer, and something to drink. Put your phone somewhere it won't become the whole evening.
  2. Twenty minutes to settle in. If you have a safe, permitted fire pit, enjoy it. If not, porch lights, a lantern, or a seat under the stars work just as well. Check local fire restrictions and never leave a fire unattended.
  3. Twenty minutes for whatever sounds good. Tell old stories, look for constellations, listen to music, or sit quietly. No activity list required.
  4. Ten minutes to put things away. Make sure any fire is fully extinguished and leave your outdoor spot ready for next time.

Make room for the people who don't love camping

Not everybody wants a tent, bugs, or a night away from their own bed. That's fine. Set up a few chairs close to the house and let people come and go. Kids can bring hot chocolate. Someone can bring a book. Somebody else might just want to talk.

And if it's raining or too cold? Move the whole idea inside. A blanket, a favorite movie, and a little uninterrupted time together still count as leisure.

A little Christmas-at-the-campfire humor

One of our favorite playful holiday designs is the Santa & Sasquatch Bigfoot Christmas Sweatshirt. The original artwork has Santa and Bigfoot sharing a campfire among the evergreens. It makes us smile because it's exactly the kind of unlikely gathering that belongs around a cozy fire. You don't need the sweatshirt to have a good evening, but it's a fun one for the Christmas-loving camper on your list.
