There is something about a November Friday that makes us want to turn the lights down, put the kettle on, and find a good place to read. It doesn't need to be a whole weekend away. An hour counts.
Start with what you already have
Pick a book you have been meaning to finish, borrow one from a friend, or reread a favorite. Clear a spot on the couch or at the kitchen table. The only rule is that this isn't another assignment to check off.
Make a little reading hour
First ten minutes: Put away the dishes that are in your way, grab a blanket, and make something warm to drink. Next forty minutes: Read, listen to an audiobook, or look through a magazine. Last ten minutes: Tell someone about one thing you liked—or keep it entirely to yourself. Quiet time is allowed to stay quiet.
Everyone gets to choose their own leisure
Not everybody wants a novel. One person might be doing a puzzle, another working on a craft, and somebody else just watching the rain. We like the idea of sharing a room without everybody needing to do the same thing.
A little something from our shop
Our 'Tis the Season to Be Reading 6 Ounce Candle is a vanilla soy candle with a whimsical Christmas reading illustration. It's a sweet little gift for someone who always has a book nearby, but you don't need to buy anything to make this Friday feel like yours.
